Key Stage 3 & 4

Key Stage 3

The programme for Key Stage 3 & 4 enables students to become aware of their skills and make informed decisions about their options and their future. They will focus on:

  • Understanding themselves, their skills and the influences on them
  • Begin to learn how to research opportunities in learning and future work

Year 7 – Skills & Qualities (beginning to think about your future)

Students focus on who they are and what they enjoy. They will be introduced to the importance of transferable skills and how this can impact on their future choices and goals. They also learn who to approach for help and guidance and how those people can give important advice.

Year 8 – Aspirational Goals and types of Employment

Students start to consider what subjects they enjoy and are good at. They have the opportunity to think about their aspirations and what pathways to take.

Students learn about the different types of employment they can work in and the advantages and disadvantages of different employment contracts

Year 9 – Setting Goals and Making Decisions

Students begin to think about what they will choose for their GCSEs so we will guide them to make the best choice for them.

The careers programme will play a pivotal part in helping them to make the right choice by offering guidance and demonstrating how we can research into careers.
