Personal Development

At St John Fisher Catholic Academy, personal development is a vital part of our mission to educate for life. Our carefully designed Curriculum for Life nurtures confident, ambitious, and well-rounded young people who are ready to make a meaningful contribution to the world around them.

Each morning begins with Form Tutor time in Period 1, an important aspect of our curriculum for life and an essential part of the day, where students are welcomed, supported, and encouraged to grow. Our dedicated Form Tutors play a key role in guiding students pastorally and academically, helping them set goals, reflect on their progress, and build positive relationships. This daily contact fosters a strong sense of belonging and ensures that every student feels seen, supported, and valued.

Personal development is further enriched through regular assemblies that inspire, inform, and connect our school community. These assemblies often feature external speakers who bring real-world insight and broaden students' horizons; highlighting issues such as leadership, mental health, global citizenship, equality, and life beyond school.

Our Personal Development Programme includes careers education, PSHE, RSE, enrichment activities, and wellbeing support, all rooted in our Catholic ethos and the promotion of British values: democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance. Students are encouraged to become active citizens who show compassion, integrity, and courage in all they do.

At St John Fisher, we are proud to develop learners who are not only academically prepared but emotionally resilient, socially aware, and spiritually grounded young people who are truly ready for the next stage of life and beyond.
