Academic Overview:

In Chemistry, we are studying all the materials that make up our world and the reactions that transform them. Chemistry is a fundamental and enabling science that investigates molecules, the building blocks of all matter and how they interact to affect the composition, structure and properties of substances.

We study a wide range of topics to discover the impact of chemistry in every aspect of our lives, from atoms, nanoscience, acids, fuels, pharmaceuticals, the atmosphere, to potable water, and the rate of a reaction. Through experiments, investigations and theory students gain practical skills and scientific literacy.

Chemistry empowers students to think logically, solve problems and ask questions and supports them in everyday decision making. It helps students appreciate the role of science in tackling global challenges like climate change and sustainability. Chemical knowledge is constantly advancing and there are many amazing discoveries yet to be made.
